Welcome to the Socrates E.U.R.O.P.E. website!

In most European countries there is a policy commitment at the level of governments and ministries to promote "enterprise education", as it is considered an important means for creating a more entrepreneurial mindset among young people. Enterprise values, such as proactivity, creativity, flexibility, self-determination and problem solving, are vital to the development of a knowledge-driven European economy. Therefore, "enterprise education" creates the pre-condition to achieving progress in employment, growth, competitiveness and innovation. Moreover, it is believed that it will greatly contribute to increasing learners' motivation and to making the school system more attractive, relevant and effective.

The E.U.R.O.P.E. project's main objective is to compare, through harmonised surveys, "enterprise education" across seven European Union countries, to identify best practice programmes and to assess the impact of environmental factors upon the successful development and implementation of "enterprise education" in schools.

We welcome you to explore this website and learn more about the project's activities and outcomes. Hopefully, interested visitors, both in the participating countries and in those countries to which the project may be extended in the future, will find the site's content interesting and useful.
